LAB TESTING

LAB TESTING IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE TO LOCAL CLIENTS ONLY: Edson, AB

FATTY ACID PROFILE TESTING – $190

The Fatty Acids Panel tests total levels of saturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, omega 3, omega 6, and fatty acids found in red blood cells. The primary reason for this test is to determine if levels of essential fatty acids and other beneficial fatty acids are adequate. Depending on the particular imbalance or deficiency, a variety of symptoms can result. For instance, symptoms of omega-3 fatty acid deficiency might include fatigue, poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, mood swings or depression, and poor circulation.

D-SPOT VITAMIN D TEST – $90

This test measures 25-hydroxyvitamin D from a simple blood spot collection.

The primary role of Vitamin D is to regulate blood levels of calcium and phosphorus by promoting absorption in the intestines and reabsorption in kidneys. Calcium and phosphorus levels are important to bone mineralization and growth. Vitamin D is also an important immune regulator and may play a role in autoimmune disease.

Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to increased risk for various diseases, including some cancers, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis. Seasonal depression is also linked with low levels of Vitamin D, especially during the winter months when sunlight exposure is at a minimum. Deficiency is considered below 30 nmol/. Overweight or obese individuals, and those who are ‘non-white’ may be at greater risk for low Vitamin D levels – source.

HAIR ELEMENT ANALYSIS: 45 ESSENTIAL & TOXIC ELEMENTS – $100

This test is sometimes referred to as a “hair mineral analysis” but technically, it analyzes elements, not minerals. Certain elements are critical to health (ex. potassium and sodium are critical for heart function while calcium and magnesium are essential for bone development). However, other elements like mercury, cadmium, and lead are toxic. Good health depends on having the right balance of nutritional elements and low levels of toxic elements. Hair element analysis is an easy and inexpensive way to measure these levels. Some conditions related to toxic elements include: anxiety/depression, memory impairment, heart disease, neurological problems, and fatigue.

Aside from toxic element exposure, it is also possible to have a simple deficiency or excess of nutritional elements. For example, low levels of zinc and /or magnesium are strongly associated with increased risk of diabetes. If all or most nutritional elements appear on the lower end of normal, it may indicate that you have issues with absorption.
