Permission To Play And Enjoy Life: What’s Your Play Personality?

Inside: Could you give yourself permission to play? Take this short quiz to discover your play personality.

Lately, I’ve been exploring the connections between play, creativity, and purpose. I want to feel fully alive and thrive in every season of my life. And one of the gifts of Second Spring and beyond, I believe, is that we grow into a fuller, more-honest expression of our True Self.

But I’ve never felt super comfortable at play – or play as I envisioned it. But I’ve discovered some interesting and hopeful truths around play. There are many forms of play – many expressions. And many of the activities that truly fill me up and light me up can also be considered play.

I also know that I’m ready to be stretched even more in this area as I learn to not take life so seriously all of the time and open myself up to more play, pleasure, joy, and creativity. Scroll down for a quiz that will help you identify your “Play Personality.”

In today’s conversation we talk about play – how play is about motivation more than behaviour – and what that looks like for each of us as different Enneagram Types: Enneagram 2 (Kathy), 9 (Phyllis), and 1 (me). I invited each of them to take a short quiz to discover their “play personality”‘ which is based on the work of Dr. Stuart Brown.

You can take the quiz here: Understanding your Play Style – LindsayBraman.com.

We also talk about what it means to each of us to “live on purpose” midlife and beyond. In the summer session of the Brave + Beautiful Community, members will explore their own sense of purpose, how to thrive and feel alive, and we’ll do some dreaming/visioning for our lives.
